De Ornatu

Trotula 's De ornatu is a medical text written in Latin that was composed in the 12th century by the famous physician Trotula de Ruggiero . She was one of the first women to practice medicine in medieval Europe at the Medical School of Salerno , an excellence who distinguished herself in teaching, research and care. The text describes the techniques and remedies for the care of female beauty in a cosmetic way thanks to the meticulous study of natural methods and medicinal plants. It covers topics such as hair care, skin care, hair removal, perfumery and many more. It is considered one of the most important texts of medieval medicine and one of the first treatises on female and non-female cosmetics.
